Scabies
Description:
- Nupermy Cream is a first line treatment in Scabies in paediatric patients 2 months and older
- The American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) and other clinicians consider Permethrin 5% the scabicide of choice because of its safety and efficacy profile relative to other available agents
- Minimal transdermal absorption
Application:
- Thoroughly massage NuPermy Cream into the skin from the head to the soles of the feet. Scabies rarely infests the scalp of adults, although the hairline, neck, temple and forehead may be infested in infants and geriatric patients
- One time application is generally curative
- If necessary, a second application may be given 7 to 10 days after the first, but only if live mites can be demonstrated or new lesions appear
Dosage:
Adults: Usually,30gm or 30 ml. is sufficient for an average adult. The cream / lotion should be removed by washing (shower or bath) after 8 to14 hours. Do not take hot bath or shower immediately before treatment.
Children: Children under 2 months: Not recommended
2 months to 1 year: up to 4 gm
1-5 years: up to 7.5 gm
6-12 years: up to 15 gm
