Composition:
Mupirocin 2% w/v
water soluble base q.s.
Indication:
For the topical treatment of primary and secondary bacterial skin infections as follows:
Primary and secondary bacterial skin infections like infected dermatosis, abrasions, insect bites, minor (not requiring hospitalization) wounds and burns
Description:
- Nupirocin is a novel antibiotic that arrests bacterial protein synthesis
- Nupirocin kills various gram-positive bacteria like staphylococci, streptococci. This group includes MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus)
- Exhibits bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties when applied locally
Dosage:
- A small quantity of Nupiricon ointment should be applied to cover the affected area 2 to 3 times a day for up to 10 days
- The treated area may be covered by a dressing
