Composition:
Ivermectin I.P    6mg / 12 mg
Excipients    q.s.

Indications:

  • Demodicosis
  • Cheyletiellosis
  • Sarcoptic Mange
  • Otodectes mites
  • Hookworm

Description:

  • Is a derivative of Ivermectin-B from fermentation products of Streptomyces avermitilis
  • This drug is noted for activity against Nematodes, microfilaria, and sarcoptes, cheyletiella, Notoedres, and Otodectes mites. Although in the past Ivermectin was not shown to be efficacious for Demodex with the treatment protocols that had been effective for other ectoparasites
  • Reports confirm the efficacy of Ivermectin when administered orally at 0.3 to 0.6 mg/kg/day

Dosage / Directions of Usage:

  • Demodicosis : 400/600 mcg/kg for fifteen days
  • Cheyletiellosis : (Flying Dandruff) same as Demodicosis
  • Otodectesmites : 300/400 mcg/kg daily

Imp Note:

  • Main action of Ivermectin is parasite paralysis, but also supresses reproduction. Ticks are not killed but their egg production and molting are suppressed
  • Experimental reports indicate that single oral dose of 0.2 mg / kg is effective for cannine and feline scabies
  • The use of Ivermectin in Collie, a Sheetland sheep dog, or any dog resembling a collie is CONTRAINDICATED
  • Ivermectin should not be administered in puppies younger than 3months of age, because toxicity may be seen in any breed
  • PICROTOXIN is the only drug with the potential to reverse the toxicity
  • Ivermectin also has apparent anti-inflammatory properties
