Composition:
Each 15 ml contains
Lactulose concentrate U.S.P. Equivalent to Lactulose 10 gm
Aqueous base q.s.
Indication:
Constipation
Description:
- Lactulose in Nulax is gentle and reliable in regulation of the bowel, it is a colonic acidifier, which promotes laxation
- No mucosal irritation
- Can be used by children and elderly
- No interactions with other drugs
- Safe for long-term use
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation:
Lactulose syrup has been shown to be safe and effective for the treatment of constipation associated with pregnancy when administered to women at different stages of pregnancy. Its use during pregnancy should be on the advice of a medical practitioner.There is no data on the secretion of lactulose in breast milk or the effect on the breastfed infant. It should not be given to breastfeeding women unless the benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risks to the feeding infant
Dosage:
- The dosage is patient dependent
- In Constipation: Initially 15 ml twice daily adjusted according to patient's needs
Children:
Under 1 year - 2.5 ml twice daily
1 to 5 years - 5 ml twice daily
5 to 10 years - 10 ml twice daily
In Hepatic Encephalipathy: 30 to 50 ml three times daily
